Aids Crisis and Activism

The AIDS crisis of the 1980s and 1990s was a devastating period for the LGBTQ+ community. Misinformation and stigma compounded the tragedy, leading to widespread discrimination. However, the crisis also sparked a wave of activism that transformed healthcare advocacy and brought attention to LGBTQ+ health issues.

Organizations like ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) played a pivotal role in demanding better treatment, research, and policies. The activism born from this crisis has had lasting impacts, improving the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS and influencing public health policy.
